Interesting. What I like about similes is that the reader can put which ever spin on it that he or she likes.
Could it be
That this poem is about something that you can't quite see,
A world confused, in which one tries to blame
Others for one's own endless shame.(?)
You got it right about incubators and the effect of humidity.
