Chickened Out

Rating: 5.0

Bri Edwards has lost his last hen,
so it's time to go buy some again.
With his hens he will play,
while he hopes they will lay.
That old bear will be back. Who knows when?

Chickened Out
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Bri Edwards lives in the woods of South Carolina (USA) . A bear has been regularly visiting Bri's chicken coop and helping himself (or herself) to unauthorized chicken dinners. Last week Bri had only one hen remaining, but now it has become the bear's latest victim.

I guess you need more than chicken wire to keep out a black bear! A great limerick and nice picture!

It would be wise for Bri not to keep chickens or to shift to a safer place.

Bri's safe as a mouse when in his house, but when outside he must beware of the bear!

Bharati, thank you for commenting. I, for one, would LOVE to live where Bri lives!

It's yet another 'stunning' (perhaps in MORE than one way) poem. And it's a fine limerick; I counted the 'syllables' to be sure. AND it has humour/humor, though not all may agree.

Oh, Kim, another brilliant poem, based on (part of) the life of Bri; that's ME! ! And partly on the death of the departed hens, may they rest in peace (RIP) . Thay ALREADY have rested in pieces. : ) : ((
