Simple does not mean empty minded. A truism. I'd say redundancy...

cretr is a humorous misspelling of " creature" . This poem is from Louisa May Alcott's book UNDER THE LILACS. The main character in the story is a boy named Ben who has never attended school and he was writing this poem about Chevalita, a lovely horse belonging to a friend. Cited from Polly B's explanation. This info gives better insight about her poem.CONGRATULATIONS for the Classic Poem Of The Day, Louisa May!

For anyone who does not know, this poem is from Louisa May Alcott's book UNDER THE LILACS. The main character in the story is a boy named Ben who has never attended school and he was writing this poem about Chevalita, a lovely horse belonging to a friend. And since Ben does not know how to spell very well, " cretr" is a humorous misspelling of " creature" .

We usually want to delightfully ride someone who does not 'kick or bite'. Couldn't get the meaning of 'cretr' - can any one help?
