Beware if you come here; you never can tell
When you might run into Larry Rydel.

You will not have an easy time with Shamus;
He is by no means an ignoramus.

Aaron may be Little, but his game's large;
You make one mistake and he'll be in charge.

Also beware of that Iversen, Paul
Because he will show no mercy at all.

Watch out, all my friends, for Katana, Drew;
If you're careless he'll make short work of you!

Looking for a tough game? Then take your pick;
You can either lose to Robert or Rick.

I didn't even get to meet them all,
But I hope to go back again next fall.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
On Monday,17 October 2016, I visited the chess club at Grand Junction, Colorado.

The players there were very cordial and I had a great time.

They had more active players there than I am used to seeing at the Ogden Chess Club or the Hill Air Force Base Chess Club.

The only drawback to their club, in my opinion, is the place where they play. The tables are too small to hold both the chess boards and a chess clock comfortably, let alone have room for both players to write on a score sheet.

Rick, if you are reading this, maybe you could look into moving the club to a local McDonalds or other eating establishment where the tables are bigger.

I like and love the game of chess, it's an amazing brain exercise. A wonderful poem.

You didn't brag about your wins. That's a good thing in one way............

Well, I did win every game I played, but I didn't get to play their highest-rated players.
