Chance It Poem by Kelly Boutin

Chance It

Chance it, try to trust again.
Chance it, cut your heart to bits.
Why should I chance it?

My heart's still hanging on the line
it was left out in the rain too long
the sun has bleached my heart dry
my heart has moved its heart along

it's made a nest inside a sock

where it tries to keep warm
as time moves closer to the winter
it'll freeze, that's for sure
but what other way is there?

Chance it, try and trust the wind
chance it, what chance do you get
chance being left alone again
chance never trusting anyone

chance it, my heart that's never loved.

You're not the little girl you used to be
peace and safety was just a dream
sudden destruction comes anyway
sudden destruction is imminent

so why should I chance it?

Chance it, try and trust again,
chance it, you'll die anyway
Oh, I want to chance it so terribly
but there's no one here to chance it with...

Here comes winter's cold again
little girl, where's your hideaway?
Little girl why don't you run away?
The wind loves you, doesn't it?

The wind whispers....'Chance it.'
