Champagne Cognac Poem by D.N. Rebb

Champagne Cognac

Rating: 5.0

Early afternoon the intended message came
Sunlight penetrating a certain influence
Duty becomes a garden variety game
A clear-cut question that loosely forsakes suspense

Quick invite initiates curiosity
Lost in translation, everything falls into place
Golden-opportunities, trust powers that be
Neglected liabilities, at once relaced

Spurs of moments, spontaneous, straight off the shelf
The apple in the eye's no ordinary thief
Creatures of habit had to reacquaint themselves
Lucky strikes for those who wear dear hearts on their sleeves

In the flower of one's youth, there is naivety
Slow years o' cheated twilight release the dark horse
Sweetness and light, clean-timbered souls o' the party
Redemptive youth to be thoroughly endorsed

Unlike your other poems, but I enjoyed reading it. Interesting catchy title!

Thanks Richard. This poem is dedicated to my dog, Remy-Martin (hence the title) and the first day of how she came into our lives.
