Chameleon Poem by Abigail Hauschild

Chameleon

Rating: 3.5

I have perfected the art of fading into the background
Just to keep you from seeing my pain
I can mold my face into any mirage I need
I shade my eyes with heavy curtains of fallacy
Just to keep you from seeing my soul through those windows
I am a new person everyday
Just to keep you guessing
I laugh
I smile
I hide the hurt
So why do I feel you already have me pegged?
Could you, perhaps, understand my guises perfectly?
