Caught Napping Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Caught Napping

In silences of sunlight
sloping down the page,
he sees suddenly
an orange flare
of finches swarm into the air
and fizzle into
blue emptiness.

From a shadowed place
he aims his pen at an empty space.
