Catching Yourself Poem by Chris Embrick

Catching Yourself

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes the biggest fish
May already be hooked
You may find the biggest flounder
in the mirror when you look
If you baited the hook with:
Arrogance
Greed
Pride
Jealousy
Anger
When things don't go your way
If all you want is bragging rights
And a trophy for display
Then when you reel in the line
You may be the one shocked to find
That you're the fish on the hook
The biggest catch of the day.

Moral: A humble man goes through life's paces
And won't allow his head to swell
A proud man has many faces
But he can never hide the smell.

Arrogance, greed, pride, jealousy, anger and other vices negatively motivate mind of a person in this material world. Things do not go in right way. Looking into mirror we can see reflection of such person. With morality being humble is great. A proud man has many faces but a simple and humble man has one lovable face. This is a very thought provoking and amazing poem wisely penned. Breaking pride or ego being humble and righteous matters a lot. Having trust on God we can discover self and inner values. Excellently penned poem is shared.10
