'Cast your teary eyes upon my face' a poem to celebrate Valentine's Day

Cast your teary eyes upon my face;
Simply to say 'our love will always stay'.
Lift those eyes, my love, to a place,
Where we first met on a bright summer's day.

An old love song still echoes in my ears.
It fills us with joy and tears for years and years.
I love you or 'Je vous aime' as the French say,
A melody sweetly played all day.

Love knows no time or space, nor barriers or borders.
It is a linkage of life, laden with change and uncertainty,
With thorny twisted twigs, tangled thickets and rude boulders
Strewn along its mixed maze and winding paths to eternity.
