Astutely inscribed. Beautiful poem with humour. Thanks for sharing.10
A new way of looking at things, the multifaceted way the word cast can be used, of acceptance and being rejected. Nicely written.
A great play on words. I read this little poem over and over to find new meaning to the discarded cast and what holds your funny bone in place.
Thank you so much, Simone. I think the funny bone should, at least at times, be stressed.
M.J., is it OK with you for me to submit this poem with the title Funny Bone?
well, if it is NOT the troupe which holds your...bone in place, maybe you had better retrieve your cast, as you may need it! bri :)
I like the way your mind works! You remind me of a cricket on the loose in the pages of a dictionary. You're not a bit afraid of toying with words, playing amid their meanings, making new connections. You wake up your readers and I for one need to be woke up! A 10+
Hi Susan, Thank you so much! And a cricket and a dictionary...you gave me a great idea. Thanks again.
You have created a web of meaning around the word 'cast'. Cast is the players in a drama or troupe. Cast also refers to the plaster wound around a broken bone. Now since you are healed, you no more need the cast to hold your 'funny bone'. So you have 'cast away' the 'cast' you had earlier! Great!
Thank you, Valsa. I remember as I wrote this, I was thinking about what idea might cover tragedy and comedy, or the journey from one to the other. Thanks again,
