This was and is just so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. The tenderness of that last line is just perfect, as is the image of the footprint within a footprint. My heart is moved.
Donall Donall...so good I'm going to call you twice. This is just such...a beauty. You write the most tender 'Dad-love' poems I know. I love the notion of trying on footprints and the footprints chasing after you and the dreams dribbling down your shoulder and...the accumulative effect of that last line transforming the ordinary into a carrying her forerver in heart and mind as well as her little body. I laughed at the tweaking of the she ain't heavy she's my daughter line. Made me smile...you just about get away with it knowing your sense of humour. That's what i like about you...your talent to blend love and humour together and come out with a perfect mixture. Lovely lovely poem...you should be proud of this one. Captures her perfectly and provides lines that will carry her for ever. love Dee Dee
