Thanks, Bri! It really depends on how quickly you say those words...maybe say them together.... again...and again...

I get the feeling of fear and fervor in this little think- tank poem that gives a few diverse interpretations, which is what I love about it.

Thank you so much, Simone. Yes, the intent was to create or leave open a number of possibilities. Interpretations that lean towards the horrific work well, as do those that rest in the comedic.

M.J., I can see and fully appreciate why you would've written this grook after watching those movies. And it's really very funny. However, is it just me who's reading something into the double entendre that may not be there. Maybe I've been too engrossed (grossed out) with the Bill Cosby case (s) . Or especially, the Armed Forces sexual assault cases. But until I read the topics and your notes, I actually thought it was about the latter. Hope I didn't insult you!

Richard, thank you so very much! And yes, your interpretation is absolutely one of the possible meanings. In fact, it did come to mind as I was finishing the poem. I've been able to come up with five different meanings. They range from the benign to the bawdy. I am sure there are even more.

I didn't know Poem Hunter had a category called grook! Never heard of that word before, and it's not in my dictionary. Did you just make it up and ask PH to include it as a category?

Hi Kim, thanks for stopping by. And no, I had nothing to do with the invention of the grook. It is in fact the brainchild of Piet Hein, a Danish scientist and author.
