Canvas Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Rating: 5.0

What a sad!
Little short story
Story of life and death
On canvas of nature.
The art of nature
Neither to soothe
Nor excite-
Holding a mirror
Mirror to time and age
A life on line-
Relevant or irrelevant
Personal memories
Of the past.

In couplets-
Showing profit or loss
Aid and wait...
Watching
When, unable to watch
Enjoying
When, unable to enjoy
Those glorious or inglorious
Moments of the past
True and exact incidents
Referring back
Back to the early years.

Costing, of course
Time and wealth
Invaluable years of youth
But-
What I mean to say all that
When, I didn't have
Any one of them-
To pay off the bills
Bills of my books and food
Transport and school.

A brief history:
Of the hardest times
Like a fugitive
Striving for freedom
From physical slavery
Mentally though
Continuing with it
Even today
After years of freedom.
