I wholeheartedly appreciate and support your fight against rape and assault against women. What about other suppressions? What about those girls who are beaten by Taliban in south east Afghan provinces and Western Pakistan for going to school? What about Rizana Nafeek who was beheaded for allegedly (No solid proof) killing a baby in KSA? What about Lama al-ghamdi,5 year old, who was beaten to death by her father because he suspected her virginity? What about Pragaash, an all girl band in Kashmir, which was banned after a religious pronouncement? Just sharing my concerns! Your Fan Aswath Raman === Posted thru kindness of AB London

I once had a FB page called Flowers Not Stones... I deleted it when I left FB... it was supposed to be a place to expose cultural violence against women and a spring board where solutions could grow... I even thought of asking FB administrator for an anonymous logon so that any women could log in undetected to voice her pain without retaliation... I was going to connect it to the UN link about help for women trying to escape cultural violence... but I had no one to help me with the page... if you are interested in reviving this or building a new page on FB please let me know... but PH is not reliable for messaging lately or even posting.. so please email me directly at lynnesgarden@rocketmail.com. I still have the photo that was the banner page for my FB page... it is a flower made of hand made stones that I made for my garden... the theme of my page was this: Women deserve flowers not stones... I created the page in response to some women who were stoned to death in the middle east for wearing western attire.. Thanks for your relentless work for the safety of all women in the world.. Lynne Honble Poet Lynne I’m moved and touched by your noble endeavor. Everywhere there is a gender bias for fb is no exception. In PH I’m not allowed to comment in open forum. A kind of cannibalism indeed. I salute to effort. I’ve stay in PH because too many opening will narrow down my focus…please excuse me., ..please Regards niv PS Sorry for belated response n - - - - Posted thru kindness of AB London n
======================================== ** ORIGINAL MESSAGE ******************** ======================================== From: Paolo Giuseppe Mazzarello To: Nivedita [poet Under Threat Of Editorial Cann Date-Time: 2/11/2013 7: 50: 00 AM (GMT -6: 00) Subject: Re: 'Cannibal Gives Walkover to Raper’ [on recent Delhi rape n' murder] ~ niv ~ UK - - 'Cannibal Gives Walkover to Raper’ [on recent Delhi rape n' murder] ~ niv ~ UK Dear Ms. Bagchi, thank you for writing to an Italian poet so far from Indian as well as worldwide issues. In your quoted poem, you composed about fellows who ‘thrill ‘n trive/ on/ feminine flesh live.’ However, those fellows are sadistic as well as necrophiliac and the word ‘live’ is in opposition to it. In psychoanalysis, opposite word often are close each another and so one immediately can recall ‘death’. For the irony of the fate, the quoted ‘chrysanthemums’ are the flowers of Italian cemeteries. More than ‘satisfaction of pleasure principle’, rape is beyond the pleasure principle – Freud wrote a very interesting issue so called. Your poem is very good, original and modern. Unfortunately, its civil use is of no use. Those fellows are very angry with women who today are cultured and brave. Fortunately, as Foscolo wrote, the sun will shine on human disasters a little longer. Yours truly, Paolo- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - === Posted thru kindness of AB London
The poem is vibrant with protest and disgust against the perpetrators of crime. Unfortunately, it takes years to complete the judicial trial and punish the culprit. Public memory also fades. I wish you poet to create a sarcastic poem that exposes the hollowness of our system. Just imagine it takes only a hour to rape a victim and spoil her life forever, but its takes years before the accused is actually convicted!
Vtrue, the brutal assUlt on woman is v much on d rise these days, n v find no ways to curb it..the laws need to stringent n the accused must b bezten to death in public., ...there has to b a fear generated amongst these men who find Rape as a fun n play with it as n wen they feel like.
When I first read your poetry I felt numbed by it, unable to meet your anger with my own. It was, I said, as if you have abandoned poetry in favour of rage. But in India and South Africa, where I come from, attacks on women have increased and intensified in savagery. Your poetry now feels like a dignified, even restrained response... I am totally in support of what you are doing and I urge Poemhunter to back you, to stay in sympathy.
OK, so maybe I can feel like 1% of your hurt in this blast Only I hope the time comes when you can breath slow and long under a pale moon
so open, so raw, so gripping, a great write thanks for sharing
I feel that its a good poem and i think it would be even greater if i could come to grip on every word you typed, but still the poem it self is a good read.
It shows your great concern. It shows your compassion to make these things to be aware.
