Cancer In Your Veins Poem by Cassandra Hooper

Cancer In Your Veins

Oh God what were you thinking
Can't you see the mess you've made
Dear lord our ship is sinking
Is this to be the price you've paid
What went through your mind
To make you think you were invincible
Didn't you know you'd leave me behind
Or was that the whole priciple
You can't drown your demons darling
They all know how to swim
And between all the hissing and snarling
I can hear the breaking of limbs
And I thought about saving you
And I thought about keeping you
And I thought about killing you
Well Sweetie watch just what I do
What happened to the secrets we shared
And the heartattacks sleeping in your chest
Well I really thought maybe you cared
And well I always gave my best
So now I'll be the cancer in your veins
I'll run them dry till they crack
God I wanna see your blood in the drain
This time when you die you won't come back
Oh how I could smile
The things that I could do
But its not enough
This world is so much better off without you
The violins whisper in the background
Of your funeral in the morgue
Sweetheart do you mind if I close the casket
I don't wish to see you anymore
