Can You Tell... Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

Can You Tell...

Rating: 5.0

Can you tell what is less in me?

You witness a new sunshine-
a beloved hubby hugs you,
feeds you with wine cake,
kisses silently your red cheeks,
sheds tears on your breast...
I keep all information
touching your breath gently from distance
but deprivation hinders me to come in front of you.

Can you tell what is less in me?

The fragrance of my rose is more elegant and sensitive
than the night queen, which your hubby gifts you every night.
I am sobbing in the garden alone,
dreaming to make a sweet home
but who will pluck me?

Can you tell what is less in me?

The bright love of sunny morning
has made you absent minded- my little existence
in your mind is lost forever like a lost child in village fair.
I am that guy, yes I am that guy,
who forced you to take red wine
as my love was as red as wine
and you swallowed it, your face turned red instantly.
Can you remember that day?
I wanted to draw a black spot on your white innocence-
you cried, complained and left away.

Can you tell what is less in me?

I have risen above your hubby-
I am more prosperous: glamour of rose
is always touchy than smell of weed;
I hope you dislike my thorns
as they are the brute reality of my wild maleness,
so you accepted smoothness of weed!

Can you tell what is less in me?

When I returned to your nest as a cuckoo of spring,
I discovered a shameless crow was sitting there-
love can never desire such nonsense.
I left away like winter leaf
and vowed not to come again.

Can you tell what is less in me?

I still think about you,
this is not my weakness
but my strength of love
that burns like the morning sun.
My last question to you:
whom do you love?

Can you tell what is less in me?

An emotional poetry well written and expressed. I can feel the deep pain of love misunderstanding. Relationship needs nurturance from both side. It's something like if you get distracted you're gonna make a mistake. Beautifully written and expressed.
