Can You Really Get ''High'' On Life? Comments

Rating: 0.0

I'm tired of them asking ''What is it that you're on? ''
Why can't I just be happy with this life I've stumbled on?

My brother says that with each day he sees me it is worse.

Ooops, I stumbled into our mirrored life again. I have had friends ask me 'how can you be so happy when - - - - - is going wrong in your life? ' I just look at them and tell them that I refuse to dwell in that mess, but to rise above it.' Of course they call me Pollyanna, but I don't care - I'm happier than they are!

I love this poem. I wish there were a lot of people who would read it. Of course, my friend's dogs who I walk regularly, don't need to read it, because they know how to enjoy life! !

How did I miss this lovely poem - goodness, truth and beauty shine from it. And so tender with it too. Get out there with your reading, girl, and the world should thank you for being you as I do! Michael

Mary, I find it both ironic and wonderful that this poem follows 'Can A Mom...' (alphabetically, I know probably a coincidence) . Next time you feel down, reread this one. Very inspiring!

Mary, I like this one very much - it carries a very important message to me - we need to keep things in perspective - I love happy people, but we all still have feelings, and may be sad for a little while. The answer is, as you rightly say, not to live there! Great poem. Egal Bohen...

Really enjoyed this one. Everyone should be allowed to let their hair down, kick off their shoes, and be on a general high about nothing in particular. =)

Mary-You have described with perfect clarity this writer's life. I can relate to so much of what you have written here. My orientation to life is such that I look for a poem in everything around me. This of course leads to my feeling of 'being high on life'. Excellent poem, Mary. I loved it. Faith

Yes this is a good one...I'm the carefree type too that tries not to dwell because there are so many things to dwell on. I'm the one walking around with a smile. I'm the one at work who cheers everyone up. This one hits close top the heart and now I'm happy that I am this way. Good poem.

Beautiful, Mary. There is a small stumble in the third stanza, if you add one syllable before reality (plain, stark, sheer) it will work. Nitpicking me. H
