Can we poets consecrate diurnal hours;
That nowadays speed by ever so rapidly?
As for discarded particulars of beauty,
Can we still help them ripen into perfection?
Can we poets transmogrify this wayward world;
That cries out in its troubled sleep for redemption?

Of course we can, Dominic. I honestly think that is one reason why poets exist, why we are here, and why we are necessary. Thank you for this thought-provoking poem! : -)
Thank you both for your interesting comments. In my view, a poem can have a significant impact on an individual consciousness; further than that I have grave doubts.
