Campaign Wishes Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Campaign Wishes

Campaign wishes, how they sway,
In the wind of fervent election day,
Promises made with grand displays,
Hopes and dreams in varying ways.

Candidate speeches, full of zeal,
Their platforms, oh so surreal,
From economy to social change,
Each one vying for a chance to rearrange.

Their supporters chant and cheer,
Like a voice of thunder, they beat against the mountains,
As they spread their message far and near,
Campaign trails, filled with cheers and jeers..

As voters listen, with attentive ears,
Every candidate has a vision,
To make a mark, leave a decision,
To win the hearts of the people,
And rise to power, high and steeped.

But oh, campaign wishes, they can deceive,
For once in office, will they truly achieve?
Will they truly fulfill their promises?
Or will they fall prey to the political game.

And leave us all, feeling the same?
So let us be cautious, in our choosing,
For campaign wishes, can be confusing,
Do not be swayed by eloquent words.

But look at deeds, and actions preferred,
For in the end, it is not just wishes we need,
But leaders who truly have the people's heed,
May campaign wishes, turn into reality,
For the betterment of our nation's totality.
