I'm not sure if you were trying to capture this. But by overusing 'the word' you effectively render it meaningless and reduce its power. From reading the poem I do think you did that deliberately. The frequency of its usage in society does beg the question 'Why are we still shocked by it? '. Good job.

This is one of your older ones I am reading for the first time. When it's -ing used as a filler word, like ya know, check this out, it loses a lot of its value, like ya know, any other word or phrase. Some people I know save it for and 'F-bomb.' To signal when they are really mad or glad. It's a workhorse. But it's still a word you should scrape off your shoes before you come in the house. You found a way of putting all it's posibilities out there. Tom
