Cajun Waltz Poem by D.N. Rebb

Cajun Waltz

Rating: 5.0

Pretty girlfriend dances her last Cajun waltz
Moves home into the arms of another man
Other acquaintances inhabit his thoughts
As skilled fiddle players execute the plan

And the step waltz goes one two three un deux trois
One two three un deux trois, face to face eyes drawn
Un deux trois
Un deux trois

Oh golden Jollie Blonde from Louisiana
Unexpected serendipity at play
Simple seduction afflicts in soprano
Plain dishonesty, the crowning betrayal

And the step waltz goes one two three un deux trois
One two three un deux trois, face to face eyes drawn
Un deux trois
Un deux trois
One two three
Un deux trois

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
somehow I came across this French waltz named Jollie Blonde. I found the story fascinating. Though Cajun waltzes are actually in two step, I made my poem in three step. Hopefully did not offend anyone (I'm not a good dancer anyway)

Nor am I a good dancer. But it's the joy of dancing that really matters! And when you have an audience that applauds...that makes for a perfect night! Merci beaucoup!
