Caged Songbird Poem by duke perry abrokwa

Caged Songbird

A melody swells within my chest,
Notes of love I long to sing.
But iron bars surround my nest,
Clipping my eager wing.

The song builds, urgent to take flight,
To reach your waiting ear.
Yet circumstance, a jailer's might,
Holds back what you should hear.

My heart soars free beyond these walls,
While my voice stays locked inside.
I dream of when my music calls,
No longer forced to hide.

For now, I chirp a muted tune,
And hope someday you'll know
The full-voiced aria I'll croon
When free, my love to show.
