By The River Poem by Rosmin Elsa Mohan

By The River

By the river is where I want to be
Free.
By the river is where I see
The reflection
That reflects all of me

I walked and walked
Through the woods
When it meets the river
‘tis divine.
Memories of laughter
Happiness
Bursts of giggles
And now
Silence.

The water seems shallow
My thoughts become broad
I couldn't help but pause
By the river.

I see my ancestral home
Now in the shambles that remain
That stood the test of time
Insane.

I wish to turn back
I need to turn back
By the river
I see the face
where it belongs
Where I will find

Solace.
