Butterfly Reflections Poem by Shirley Harrison

Butterfly Reflections

Why did a butterfly lay it's beautiful wings on my hand?
It's widespread belief that butterflies are a family member or a loved one reincarnated?
but what if it's not?
what if Butterflies are simply super sensitive to human grief?
laying their wings
like an angel in disguise
helping Humans and their grief with a simply gesture and touch, courage from both sides?
and we? wondering if it really is a sign, a mother a brother, a father or a wife?
maybe it's just a beautiful insect
a pure miracle of Mother Nature
stroking your needs by pure chance
unknowing you feel close to that in which you lost, even if it's just for a moment?
Butterfly gets to rest
whilst a grieving soul bounces back to life.
