But Still, I Hold On! Poem by Denis Martindale

But Still, I Hold On!

Sorrows are like spectres that may haunt day and night,
They must not direct us! Take a stand and then fight.
Fight for your tomorrows that God has planned for you,
Defend against sorrows, whatever you may do!

Your eyes are your portion! So count them sublime,
Treat both eyes with caution as you rest them each time.
Your ears are your blessing! So permit them some ease.
When words prove depressing, sing hymns to find peace!

God's words are your treasures! Let wisdom spring forth,
So that you find pleasures poured out from the North.
His words are descending from God's Heaven above,
Like lions defending all the weakest with love.

If they will receive these, then God's love will come near,
So that sorrows must cease when His love casts out fear.
We start as beginners through what Christ has done!
God cleanses all sinners thanks to Jesus, His Son!

And that is why each day, four seasons throughout,
God blesses in His way, reducing our doubt.
So why doubt like Thomas when God's powers prove real?
Please trust the Lord Jesus! He knows how to heal.

For now, tribulation, a little while more,
Then comes God's salvation as it spreads shore to shore,
A warm breeze so gentle, caressing your skin,
As if sentimental, so do not give in!

I wait for my new hope,
When all hope has gone!
To learn that I can cope!
But still, I hold on!

This Gospel poem is by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale.
He knows that it can't solve all the sorrows that we encounter.
He directs us to God and Jesus so we can experience the
amazing grace that the famous hymn of faith explains to us.
God's Word tells us Christ died for us while we were yet sinners.
The Greatest Story Ever Told is a deeply spiritual film.
Christ conquered Calvary, and the film Risen shows
the miraculous resurrection of Jesus, the Son of God.

But Still, I Hold On!
