This is such a beautifully written poem and the perfect piece to save and bring out each Memorial and Veteran's day to remember those who gave all for our freedom. Have saved to my favorites list just for this purpose. Thanks for sharing Susan!

As much as I hate war, it is important to remember and support our military. A lot of my family are veterans. I help put flags on the graves of veterans at our tiny local cemetery for Memorial day, Veterans Day and the 4th of July. Last year we placed 10 flags, this year there were 11. The 11th is my grandpa. He had taps and the white gloved salute and flag folding at his funeral. I miss him.

Soldiers make the supreme sacrifice. We have to be vigilant that government in power does not abuse them for senseless and selfish wars. Lovely tribute. Peace on this Memorial Day.
