Burying The War Dead Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Burying The War Dead

Rating: 5.0

Let the trees grow where you lay
So, the doves can watch you
From above
And put olive branches on yr gave
For you fought for peace
As you don the uniform
Protecting the future against tyanny
Let peace reign over yr body
And bless you with eternal sleep

So sad. Our History, in war and death, always clad. It seems like killing one another demonstrates that we are yet not civilized. This very touching poem summarizes all the tragedy that War Is. So sentimentally and beautifully written, it certainly is!

Well said, they never found my grandad, blown to bits, so I never ever saw him.

A very heartfelt tribute to the memory of those honorable men and women who died, so that we can live in freedom. So very well written, LeeAnn!

Let all parts of nature come to the grave and let all pray to God to pacify the departed soul; and let it be pleased and peaceful in the eternal sleep

A beautiful prayer! War is senseless and cruel. Those who lay down their lives are true heroes who deserve honour and respect. Well penned!
