Burning Sky (Sonnet) Poem by Valerie Dohren

Burning Sky (Sonnet)

The burning sky awakens all from sleep,
another day is born, another chance
another chance to take that final leap
from life's unease and long incessant dance.
Such endless yearning takes my breath away
no respite found from everlasting grief -
to be alone for yet another day
as thus decreed by life's immortal thief.
To whimper in the shadows as a child
with heart so broken ne'er to ever mend -
from full the joys of life henceforth exiled
and thus to reach beyond towards the end.
Returning to the dreaming hours to find
sweet echoes of all things long left behind.
