Burning Candles Poem by Laquory Jones

Burning Candles

Rating: 5.0

Tonight I'm putting the candle to the wind
The pain embedding deep under skin
No one's without sin
But I've tried my best to make amends
Just got word that a friend close to me
Fighting two cancers they're taking it
In stride but it still kills me up inside
Whom can I confide getting choked up
Every-time at least when I try
My best not to cry
There's never a good time to say
Goodbye another friend depressed
Struggling to get by wondering if
They should survive three attempts
Of suicide three times with a
Knife and she has a child to provide for
She asked whom would I cry for

Burning candles within the wind
Igniting them twice for my friends
Until bursting embers commence
Their dancing under stars
Because that's truly what we are
True Superstars (Lighting the dark)

All of this making me wonder why
Some stars doesn't shine
Throughout the night
Knowing some tend to get left
Behind perhaps it's just a sign
For more clues to find
Richie get a spine
Isn't it funny how life tends to
Work I know some would concur
Awhile flashes of life gets lost
In a blur we're all products of
The hurt sometimes we have to
Get burn because that's how we
learn gaining scars in return
As Life continues to churn

Burning candles within the wind
Igniting them twice for my friends
Until bursting embers commence
Their dancing under stars
Because that's truly what we are
True Superstars (Lighting the dark)
