You never shed your leaves in Autumn;
You leave them hanging there, crisp medals
On vigorous limbs braced
For Yule.
Snapping clicking foliage fingers
Clutch faded greenness;
Memories of summer dead and gone
To dust.
You never shed your leaves like tears
Or thrust your stark grief at the sky;
Wear the moon upon your sleeve.
Defy.
