Broken Window Poem by Kelly Boutin

Broken Window

Broken window, broken window,
I used to look at you and sigh
what could've been was never meant
to lighten up my life.

It's been dark in here for years
in this painted window
reflects the tears and hidden fears
of a black widow.

Oh, paint away my life for me,
make it black with dread,
spin away my life for me
inside your spider's web.

Oh, take away my life from me,
before I bleed to death
don't let me ever see
the broken window ledge.

Break away this broken window
and show me sunlight,
take away this broken glass,
or take away my life.

I live in a broken window,
come break me free
my heart is a broken window,
come and rescue me.
