Bri's Birds And Other Creatures

Rating: 5.0

One fine summer day I met my friends Logan Derrington and Crenshaw Kendall for a stroll down Honeysuckle Lane, an unpaved road through pastures, meadows and memories.

We saw Farmer Bullock's cows wandering toward their feeding area. One of them put its foot up to a dumped-over barrel and then withdrew it rapidly, as if it had seen something fearful.

'I want to see what's over there, ' said Logan. He ducked through the barbed-wire fence, tearing his trousers in the process, a minor catastrophe, then promptly stepped in a mixture of mud and manure. The goo seemed to want to hold him there forever, but he managed to extract himself.

Meanwhile, Crenshaw had started playing some music of flute and piccolo on his boombox, but it was obnoxious, so I asked him to quit it.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, it seemed, Crenshaw's sister, Kendra Kendall, appeared and demanded that Cren return the boombox to her, the rightful owner.

Sadly, what we had wanted to be a giant adventure was over too soon. The three of us walked back to Logan's house, where his mom made things somewhat better by piling huge helpings of ravioli on our plates.

Bri's Birds And Other Creatures
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Bri Edwards has posted a poem called Birdwatchers Chat, in which he hides the names of birds in his poem. In the sentences above, I have hidden the names of eleven birds, the majority of which are the same as his, plus the names of six other creatures that are NOT birds. Can you find them all? Oh, by the way, the word ‘cows' is in plain sight and DOES NOT COUNT as one of the hidden creatures. The farmer's surname also does not count.

What a puzzle, Pard! I have only found a few of them so far. Also, what a fantastic picture! I had one of those very creatures in my front yard a few weeks ago. Magnificent animals!

I left four more comments on this poem yesterday as hints, and they are not showing up. At least, I can't see them. Can anyone else?

You amaze me. After you told me in your private message what you had FOUND, I was dumbFOUNDed. You found five creatures that I didn't even know I had hidden!

I don't claim that it's a poem, Bri. Are you admitting that you can't find the hidden items?

Prose it may be --- hee, hee, hee --- but this fact is true: you can't find them, can you?
