Bring me back
To time when
Life's simple
Doors open
To neighbours
Love's open
To strangers
Bring me back
To time when
We all talked
Family
Not just friends
But strangers
Off the streets
Bring me back
To time when
Love's real
We did care
We still care
And God's there
For the share
Much has changed from 'back in the day' when there seemed less to fear from strangers and neighbours. We seemed to have become more insular and less trusting. Old values seem to fit less in this complicated modern world of terrorism and fake news. How refreshing and nice to be in the company of like-minded people who do still share decent values. Lovely poem Richard.10+
Simone, it's so sad to see those old values falling by the wayside. And so awesome to be in the company of decent people!

Those last three lines are soberly stated but (I know) passionately felt. They bring closure to the poem, not by surrendering to the loss of an Era of Good Feelings but by affirming their value in the light of the Creator's intentions for us as the HUMAN FAMILY. I may not share your beliefs in a literal sense but when you express values like this (Bring me back / To time when / Love's real) I'm a believer, pure and simple. L-E-T I-T B-E. These are words of wisdom! ! !
Daniel, you always write such eloquent responses. I am deeply moved by your words. Humbled and greatly flattered. Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement.
