Love-lit lamps excel power driven stars
Parading in the skies, marvellous majestic
Just as a brief candle excels more enduring lights
Brevity be blessed, particularly in its dazzle intense
The mortals' accent on intensity highlights evanescence
And the human grief in the inevitable acceptance of silence
May be it is folly to rage against unalterable facts
O Powers that be, grant us the grace to salute the awesome
With the vainglorious chant:
''drive away the doom, grant us peace''
