Brand New Pair Poem by Dean Meredith

Brand New Pair

Rating: 4.5

Hello, do you recognise me?
Yes, hello again
I have something for you, are you free?
I guess
Follow me into the next room
Ok

Oh, such a large box
Open it up, they're beneath the wrapping
Wow, are you sure there's no mistake?
Positive
Gosh they're beautiful, but way too big for me
Don't worry, you'll grow into them

They'll hurt at first, but after a while … you'll see
My, I can't believe they're for me
Well they are, trust me
I do, how can I ever thank you?
You already have
Gee

You can try them on later
Yes, I'll wait
I made them especially for you
They look so soft, can I touch them?
Sure, but leave them in the box for now
Ok

When can I wear them?
Soon
And they're really mine to keep?
Yes, forever
Thanks, they're so great
But what have I done to deserve them?

You know
Do I?
You do
I'll have to think about it
It won't take you long
Maybe

I have to go
So soon?
Yes, I have much to do
I suppose
When will you return?
In a while

Leave them in the box for now
I will
Good
Can I still look at them?
Sure, but don't take them out
I won't, I promise

Good
Just one more question …
Yes?
How will they be attached?
I'll take care of that
Will it hurt a lot?

At first, but you're used to pain
I've conditioned you for them
All along?
Most of the time, should you be worthy
Thanks, I'll be ready, see you in a while
Yes
