Boys At Ten Are Errand-Fit

that obnoxious poison, called snuff
-unlike cigarette- snort don't puff
ear-ringed uncle was addict
I, the errand boy, fetched it
in a jiffy; I loved to run, huff and puff

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
snuff- dried and ground tobacco leaves;
harmful like all other tobacco products
fairly common-1950-1970- used by elderly men
Others hated the stuff.
Some older men used to wear gold rings in their ears-perhaps a status symbol.
