CONTINUED: his twisted ‘cry of art' not a ‘note' or an ‘overture' but ‘a hole' and ‘a desecration'.

Marc Crawford, to whom this poem is dedicated, was a black writer and editor who suggested Brooks write about inequality. The poem features a boy whose attempts at self-expression are manifested in the breaking of windows,

CONGRATULATIONS on being chosen as the Modern Poem Of The Day. Hooray to the family of the late poetess. I always enjoy reading her poems, her observations are always very keen, like: Who has not Congress, lobster, love, luau, the Regency Room, the Statue of Liberty, runs. A sloppy amalgamation. A mistake. A cliff. Scintillating! 5*****.
