By Mohammad A Yousef
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life,
The bottom line is what we strive for,
The benchmark of success,
The measure of our worth.
We chase after goals and dreams,
Working tirelessly to reach that bottom line,
But at what cost?
Is it worth sacrificing our happiness,
Our relationships,
Our health,
Just to meet that elusive target?
We are constantly told that the bottom line is everything,
That without it, we are nothing,
But is that really true?
Is success truly defined by a number on a balance sheet,
Or is there more to life than profit margins and financial statements?
We must remember that the bottom line is not the be-all and end-all,
That there is more to life than money and material possessions,
That true success lies in the relationships we build,
The lives we touch,
The legacy we leave behind.
So let us not be consumed by the pursuit of the bottom line,
Let us instead focus on what truly matters,
On being kind and compassionate,
On making a positive impact in the world,
On living a life filled with purpose and meaning.
For in the end, when all is said and done,
The bottom line will fade away,
But the love we give and receive,
The memories we create,
The lives we touch,
Will endure for eternity.
