Book Of Books Poem by Shaun Cronick

Rating: 5.0

Two things go together,
Which no man can part.
Dust upon the Bible,
Drought within the heart.

Are you parched and weary,
Take the Bible down.
The dust on its covers,
Have turned the edges brown.

But inside, oh inside,
There are living waters.
Enough for all sons of men,
And yes, for all the daughters.

Comfort for all sorrow,
Forgiveness for each sin.
Take the Bible down,
There's Bread and Wine within.

Lyric and drama,
War's disgraceful story.
Prophecy and epic,
And true salvation's glory.

Songs for your joyousness,
Balm for your grief.
Tree of Life within one book,
Its root, its fruit and leaf.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Wilhelmina Stitch wrote this magnificent lost poem in 1935.
One year before she tragically died aged only 48.
Her real name was Ruth Collie and she and Ella Wheeler Wilcox are literally two forgotten poetesses and two of my favourites.
But, I choose never to forget them.
And this magnificent lost poem was never on PoemHunter.
It is now, for everyone to rediscover, read, enjoy and share.

And thank you Rose Marie for your comment on Ruth Collie's (a.k.a. Wilhelmina Stitch) magnificent lost poem. She was known in her time as ' the poem a day lady' through her newspaper column. Thanks again good Rose Marie and take care. Shaun.
