Kangaroos, flying foxes and the like (as per your comment) are among the greatest audiences anyone can have (and I say that in fervent sincerity) – you didn’t know but I was included in “the like” because I heard it too in all its quiver-melancholia in that deep dark, Australian night in the waning light of the yellow moon (all the way from South Africa) . Always wondered why I wasn’t born a tree, a mongoose or a butterfly or the like.

There are lyrics to songs which are poems, and there are poems that can be set to music. But those are mostly the exceptions to the rule. No sense selling your soul to cross that line.

You don't need a penny just to hang around, But if you've got a nickel, won't you lay your money down? Over on the corner there's a happy noise. People come from all around to watch the magic boy. Thanks to CCR.

Blinky, you chust a po' boy thumpin' out a solo on that ol' bass. But it's worth two cents.

Tom I have sung it out loud but only in the bush to the kangaroos, flying foxes and the like. They don't care if I'm a semi tone off key...! Cheers Geoffrey.

Awful to see your guitar gone. Blues music and poetry go together as your well-constructed ballad demonstrates. Fine writing I think.

A tinge of sadness stretching to cover the atmosphere from yellow moon down to the solemn scene on the earth. It is an immense masterpiece. Thanks & Congrats to you. I cried to you for mercy / It just made you wail so sad and in the cold light of it / My song will be of pain

I love verse that can be sung though I'm no singer and no guitar player either. But this has a great melody to it. This one gives me the same feeling as the Spanish poet, Garcia Lorca's gypsy songs. Great piece, Geoffrey

Thanks Tom.Even now you evoke some memories of Spain when you speak of Garcia Lorca. I am very happy to hear that you picked up on the melody of this. Never imagined having a song in me.. There you go.Thank you so much.
