For the spiritual seekers, blue colour symbolises higher state of consciousness. Meditation on blue brings about a vision of clarity, understanding and firmness in thought and speech. Dear Poet, a full score of 10 for your bright vision.

Dear MJ, You are absolutely on dot, It is the colour of stability and confidence. I do not know why the colour ' blue' is associated with a state of sadness or hopelessness in the west. But in India the colour blue is associated with higher elevation of mind.

Thank you so much, Geeta. Yes, even in the West there are associations between blue and the word of God. I don't know how the connection with sadness comes. I know blue signifies passing in military traditions. I've read (long ago) that sadness actually influences vision, and greys are seen as blue...maybe there are answers there.

Depression is another word for despair and hopelessness and such a malady is so crippling to our young

What i read here, i dont get the blue feeling but a grey mood...such a clever idea of writing, playing colour to shade tone of the moods...i feel the pain, the struggle in this poem...its so nice to travel to someone place just by a write to feel this. somehow it makes me appreciate things more.

(cont.) I LIKE the flow and 'sound' of the poem, but confess i don't know that i understand its totality. i guess people with PTSD could be said to be well shaken up, i.e. their lives have been negatively changed by some event(s) . to MyPoemList for flow and sound, at least. bri :)

PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. i'd not heard of blue being associated with those things. blue, to me, (besides being a color) has meant mild depressing feelings. (cont.)

Thanks, Bri. Yes, blue can and does represent extremes...from the depths of depression, to joy of birth...seemed perfect for this verse. It also brings out the ironies.
