Blessed Event Poem by D.N. Rebb

Blessed Event

She read all the textbooks
Went to every Lamaze class
Listened to her doctor
Was mindful of the forecast

Contraction One crash-landed
That's a doozer, she ruled
Kept her tense breathing steady
Boy, did they have her fooled

Contraction, dilation
Then the storied water broke
Sudden panic kicks in
This ain't no bloody joke

Who says blessed event?
"Get me to a hospital,
The baby's coming now
Grab the right car keys" she yells

Such healthy infant bliss
Born without certain bias
Life's cycle's next spin-off
Strengthening new alliance
