Black My Poem by Felix Otiende

Black My

DARK MY PRIDE

Is being black a sin?
Or global injustice?
What's my fault or crime?

Black is beauty I was told,
Beauty strikes in Africa,
The pride of our mother land,

You value your pets than I,
Your own once called me immigrant,
Yet our own ruled and made history,

When we achieve you celebrate,
When the results are against us,
You end up throwing bananas,

Yes am proud of mama nature,
Always strong and persistent to hot temperature,
Even COVID-19 didn't manage to wipe us,

You have weaponized diseases,
Just to control our population,
Even killed Omar Gaddafi and John Pombe,

Let us enjoy our forest in peace,
As we enjoy our own resources,
Why mess with our Mama Africa?
