Black Dressed Chauffeur Poem by Kelly Boutin

Black Dressed Chauffeur

This toxic wasteland
I live in
This toxic broken
Relationship

I was born
a gutter child
I lived 30 years
In denial

I took myself
To the counselor
He said, little girl?
But are you sure?

You're thirty years
And gaining more
Every day
You live in here

This toxic wasteland
I live in
It's getting into
My thin skin

Slowly poisoned
From within

Will I get better
Or will I get worse
Will I find myself
A hearse?

Oh, Take me far
Away from here
Black Dressed
Night chauffeur
