Older generation find it difficult to connect to the younger generation and vice versa. This problem can only be solved with mutual empathy. This approach can also solve the problem of the younger generation too, when they themselves being to age.
Theirs was a world ... a generation so far away? That is where we fit in when we go to a party at son or daughter's friends. We clearly understand what a generation gap is. Beautifully expressed in the poem.
Exchanged pleasantries, discussed their work and woes and as I sat looking at them blank was very amazing in this expression of birthday party.10
This is the true depiction of life when people of our age become passive spectators and 'scarecrows' amid a group of gregarious and jubilant youngsters...... No one can be blamed.....! It so happens...... ! Either they have no interest in us or we lose interest in what they talk and do....! The generation gap is something that has existed at all times.... Now with speedy changes taking place all through life, the generation gap can only get wider....! ! Wonderful write! A sure 10
This is really beautiful poetry where you feel isolated siting in a corner and watching young generation enjoying itself unconcerned to your presence. Can feel the emotions in the lines. Nice drop.
This is such a classy work. Your keen observation and deep insight are manifest in this work as in all your works. A very skillful use of vocabulary n expression. And along with the narrative runs a vital question, that of generation gap. How beautifully you have woven the concrete n the abstract. A birthday party is not just an event of celebration, it has a meaning on the deeper level for the poet who witnesses it with a sense of isolation. A profound work that sets the reader thinking n ruminating. The world is indeed fast...we feel left behind often. A big 10
I think this is my favorite poem of yours (So far) I can relate on many levels and the wording was marvelous. A 10 is appropriate. Well done, Madathil
Thanks, Kelly. I wasn't sure if it would be received well. Your words reassure my thumping heart.
When I was growing up, I often hung with the older people- -they liked to tell stories of their life and times and it charmed the dickens out of me. I think I was an oddity- -my friends would rather gossip about people in our school. I hate the thought that people live lives that nobody cares to hear about, had adventures that no one can have 50 and 60 years later because technology has changed the landscapes of our lives.
