Big John Poem by Ima Ryma

Big John

Triceratops fossil, Big John,
Found on a South Dakota hill
Was auctioned - going, going, gone,
Price tag - seven point seven mill.
Because Big John was found on land
Not public but owned privately,
Highest bidder sale was not banned.
A private art collection be
Where the dino bones will display
In an elitist artsy pose
Not in a scientific way.
Naturally came, expensive goes.

Big John got dug up and now is
Getting bid up in the art biz.
