Big Joe Is The Big Achiever Poem by Francis Duggan

Big Joe Is The Big Achiever

Big Joe is the big achiever in the town
And he boasts that his claimto fame is not tied to local renown
In his late twenties in the prime of his life
The father of twin year old daughters he has a beautiful wife
Big Joe is the captain of the local football club
He often sings the club anthem with his mates in the pub
Tall dark haired with broad shoulders a burly young man
Who is not short on ego and is full of youthful elan
his worth as a footballer he overrate
In his own mind he is a football great
But locals who know of sports say he is not that good at all
That he will never make the top grade at football
It is all in the mind with him one might say
One does meet the big Joes in life every day.
