Beyond Silence Poem by Alison Mujati

Beyond Silence

In the same space, we occupy different minds
A world of silence, where love is left behind
Your gaze passes through me, like a winter's breeze
Leaving me to wonder, if you still see me

We're two islands, separated by a sea
Drifting further apart, with each passing day, it seems
I try to bridge the gap, with words and tender touch
But you're a ghost, unreachable, lost in too much

In this home, we're strangers, living parallel lives
Our love reduced to embers, dying, without a fight
I yearn for the connection, the laughter and the tears
But you're a million miles away, through all the passing years

If only you could hear me, feel the love I still hold true
Perhaps we could rekindle, the flame that once shone through
But until then, I'm left, to whisper in the night
Hoping someday, you'll hear me, and we'll be alright.
