Best That I Go (Song Lyrics) Poem by John Carter Brown

Best That I Go (Song Lyrics)

BEST THAT I GO

I gave you the letter, you started to read
it told of my sorrow when I had to leave
it seemed that no answer could ever be found
no real resolution if I was around
and I'd loved to have stayed, I just felt you should know
but I thought, on the whole, it was best that I go.

How did I fail you, or did you fail me?
no use in trying, it's too late to see
hard to remember the good times we knew
'fore it started, and we came unglued
and I'd loved to have stayed, I just felt you should know
but I thought, on the whole, it was best that I go.

Laughing and crying, parting of ways
stilling of feelings, and ending of days
living but dying, hoping for more
no resolution, like I said before
I'd loved to have stayed, I just felt you should know
but I thought, on the whole, it was best that I go.
Yes I thought, on the whole, it was best that I go.
